How QR Codes Work

What is a QR Code?

QR (Quick Response) codes are two-dimensional barcodes that can store various types of information. When scanned with a smartphone camera, they instantly deliver that information to the user.

Dynamic vs Static QR Codes

Static QR Codes: Contain fixed information that cannot be changed once created. The data is encoded directly in the QR pattern.

Dynamic QR Codes (What we provide): Point to a short URL on app.qregent.com that redirects to your desired destination. You can change where it redirects anytime through your dashboard.

Privacy Options

QRegent gives you complete control over your QR code privacy:

• Tracked QR Codes: Include analytics to help you understand engagement and optimize your campaigns
• Non-Tracked QR Codes: Privacy-focused option with no data collection or analytics

You can choose which option works best for each QR code you create and change this setting anytime.

Tracking vs Non-Tracked QR Codes

Tracked QR Codes (Default)

By default, QR codes include analytics tracking that provides valuable insights:

• Scan Count: Total number of times your QR code was scanned
• Unique Visitors: Number of different devices that scanned
• Device Types: Mobile, tablet, desktop breakdown
• Operating Systems: iOS, Android, Windows, etc.
• Geographic Location: Country and city based on IP address
• Time Patterns: When your QR codes are most active

Non-Tracked QR Codes

For privacy-conscious use cases, you can disable tracking:

• No analytics data collected
• Direct redirect without logging
• Ideal for personal use or privacy-sensitive applications

1. Navigate to Dashboard: Log in and click "Create QR Code" button
2. Choose Type: Select "Link/URL" as your QR code type
3. Enter Destination: Input the full URL (including https://)

4. Customize Slug: Choose a memorable short URL

5. Add Title: Give your QR code a descriptive name for your reference

How to Add Team Members

1. Navigate to Team Page: Click "Team" in the header (visible to Owners and Admins)
2. Click "Add User": Opens the new team member form
3. Enter Account Details:
   • Email address for the team member
   • Create a password for their account
   • Select their role (Admin or Member)
4. Create Account: The account is instantly created and active
5. Share Credentials: Securely provide the login details to your team member

Managing Your Team

For Admins and Owners:

• View all team members and their roles
• Change member roles (Admin can't change Owner)
• Remove team members when needed
• See QR codes created by each member

QR Code Sizing Guidelines

• Business Cards: 2.5cm x 2.5cm (1" x 1") recommended

• Distance Rule: Scanning distance ÷ 10 = minimum QR code size
